Slogan & Jingle List TAKE YOUR TAGLINE TO THE NEXT LEVEL: It is widely thought that primitive man may have used slogan-like utterances to communicate the value proposition of an idea, such as the inventor of the wheel who grunted to a skeptical audience: “It’s round. Any questions?” The parallel development of commercial advertising and modern psychology in the late 19th century witnessed the ascendancy of the slogan, which soon became the accepted method of branding everything from soup to nuts. Since the advent of commercial television, corporate taglines, ad slogans, and jingles have been fighting the front-line battle to penetrate our minds, win our hearts, and open our wallets. Do these so-called brand-bites exercise a profound influence on our language, media, and culture? In a word, yes!
The following is a list of more than 400 nominated slogans and jingles from which the most influential were ranked in TaglineGuru’s.
Geoffrey H Goldman. Where it points to line 12 if I remember correct, which states 'throw(E)'. Hi, we are in desperate need of a new tagline! My company, FossaTec Business Systems, was created to help companies recover operational dollars through providing a software platform that streamlines an organization’s processes within the convergence of the IT, Facilities and Resource infrastructure. Our core values center on a sharing accountability with partners to recognize and realize the hidden potential of recovering wasted operational dollars. FossaTec’s solutions are born from the concept that organizations are spending billions of dollars from a lack of visibility into the unrecognized operational chaos that current solutions fail to completely address. Our target market includes Directors and VPs of IT, CIOs, Facility Managers, and CFOs. I appreciate your help!
Alexa, Well, you already articulated your value proposition pretty well. You just need to make it a little more tangible: how quickly can a customer expect to get a positive ROI using your software platform? How exactly does it uncover this operational savings? Do you have examples of how much companies have saved using your software?
In the current recession, if you can point to short-term savings using your software (. I'm going to stray a bit from the other responders, and say that you need a more specific tagline. Virtually ALL software reduces operational costs, creates transparency and saves time - that's a given. I would focus more on what the software actually does (in plain language), or on what niche you have expertise in.
I would recommend staying away from vague adjectives that could be used just as easily to describe any other software company - e.g. Save money and time, reduce risk, make people more effective, etc. How about something like: IT infrastructure and business goals, aligned. Make better business decisions with our enterprise management platform.
A picture is worth a thousand words – so goes the saying – but sometimes even a few words are worth a thousand words. The best writers are those who sum up complex oceans of thoughts into a few words.
Companies hire such writers to write short, crisp, memorable taglines for their businesses. You see in this crowded world if you want people to remember your brand name then your company’s name and your tagline both should be very small.
It is difficult to remember large names while it is a bit easier to remember small ones. This does not imply that small names mean inferior quality. If that were true then all Nobel’s, Bookers and Pulitzers would have gone only to the epic, two thousand paged novels. Logos with Cool Taglines A logo identifies your brand and gives immediate recognition to your business. But a tagline also helps you achieve the same. A tagline is a small statement that can be used to declare the purpose of your business amongst other uses. For example in the first Harry Potter movie, Harry goes to buy his magic wand from a shop named “Olli Vander’s”.
The shop’s banner had the name written over it and its tagline said “Makers of fine Wands”. This is a classic example how businesses use taglines to declare a statement of purpose.
